Anticipation

As I look forward to January 2009, I am brought back to my feelings as a boy waiting to get a big present of consequence for the year.

How is it that I can regress so far into the past with something that will happen anyway - a change in leadership, both externally and internally, in my occupation. Just 2 1/2 months (taking into account holidays) away, and yet I struggle to think that all will be smooth sailing over that time.

Others around me seem to think that everything will change because of a new leader. I do not concur. Internally, I am already adjusting to what I am expected to do anyway. I am avoiding conflict with others who will be around after January.

No wishing my life away this time - Christmas will wait and so will the present.

The Psychology of Waiting...

Picking up on my last blog entry regarding the job interview, I have struggled with keeping a lid on my enthusiasm.

The best piece of advice I've received is to ensure that my perspective is kept to thinking that the offer of a job means an agreed match between my background and abilities with the organisation for which I've interviewed and the lack of an offer means the lack of an agreed match during the interview process.

This is helpful, insofar as not seeing it as failure or success, but ensuring that there is a match that means success for the organisation.

We'll see.

Job Interview...

What an amazing experience to go for the perfect job to be told that I must wait another week before they can interview the fourth candidate!

Fortunately, I have the patience and the activity to allow it. There seemed nothing more to it and then I read an article via http://www.interviewstuff.com that discussed the issue of sending a thank you letter/e-mail to the organisation.

I did it and actually feel pretty good about having done it.
